William L. Sheridan, CAI, AARE, elected to
National Auctioneers
Association Board of Directors |

Overland Park, Kan. A Mason, Mich.,
man has been elected to a three-year term on the National Auctioneers Association Board of
Directors.
William L. Sheridan, CAI, AARE,
was elected as a director of the National Auctioneers Association (NAA) on July 22, during
the association's Annual Meeting. The meeting was a portion of the NAA's 50th
Anniversary Convention in Grand Rapids, Mich., July 20-24.
Sheridan is the owner and
operator of Owosso Livestock Sales Company, a regional livestock marketing company.
Sheridan is also the owner and founder of Sheridan Auction Services, Inc., a
statewide auction company primarily involved in marketing farm machinery, registered dairy
and beef cattle.
In 1992, he was one of the
founders of The Brokerage Land Company, a statewide land marketing firm. He is
president of the Livestock Marketing Association, past president of the Michigan State
Auctioneers Association and was recently appointed chairman of the Michigan Beef Industry
Commission.
He is currently chairman of the
Michigan Beef Expo, one of the largest beef expos in the Midwest. He was recently
appointed to serve on the NAA Long-Range Planning Committee. He served as the
Michigan Chairman of the 1999 International Auctioneer Championship, a highlight of the
50th Anniversary Convention. As an NAA director, he will serve on the association's
Public Relations Committee.
As a director, he will help
govern the activities of the NAA. He will travel on the association's behalf,
appearing at state auctioneer association's conventions and meetings and presenting
educational seminars.
The NAA is a nearly 6,000-member
organization dedicated to advancing the auction profession. It provides continuing
education and networking opportunities to its members and promotes the auction method of
marketing to the general public and various groups.
The association recently
fulfilled a $1 million pledge to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis Tenn.,
and has since made an additional $1 million pledge.
Other directors elected with
Sheridan were Sherman Hostetter Jr., CAI, AARE, GPPA, GRI, CRS, of Beaver Falls, PA.; Mike
Jones, CAI, of Dallas; and Dennis K. Kruse, CAI, GRI, of Auburn, Ind.
