ESCANABA — Speaking too fast isn’t a problem for Col. Dan Samson, Escanaba. In fact, it’s a prize-winning asset.
Samson was named Michigan Bid Calling Champion in the Michigan State Auctioneers Association competition Feb. 1 in Lansing. He will move on to compete in the International Auctioneer Championships in July in San Diego.
Auction segment to air on NBC's Today Show on Dec. 28th. OVERLAND PARK, Kan. –NBC’s Today Show aired the NAA auction segment on December 28th between 7:30-8:00 a.m. EST. The segment was taped with NBC correspondent Kevin Tibbles at Reppert School of Auctioneering in Auburn, Ind. on October 10-11.
NAA President, William Sheridan, CAI, AARE, GPPA (Mason, Michigan) appeared in the segment as well as 2006 International Auctioneer Champions: Barbara Bonnette, CAI, AARE, GPPA of Alexandria, La., and John Nicholls of Fredericksburg, Va.

Sheridan, auctioneer and co-owner of Sheridan Auction & Realty Co. in Mason, leaves that task up to the buyer. Sheridan, who is also president of the National Auctioneers Association, said this business of buying and selling by auction is the purest form of market economics.
MSAA Auctioneers Appraised Treasures at the Free Appraisal Event at Gibraltar Trade Center.
Taylor, Michigan - 7 Michigan State Auctioneers Association Members volunteered their time to appraise treasures for the public at the Appraisals For your Treasures event held at the Gibraltar Trade Center on December 9. The event was free to the public. Appraisers included: Dennis R. Beals of Haslett, MI; Timothy Bos of Jackson, MI; Douglas Dalton of Belleville, MI; Michael W. Furlo, CAI, CAGA of Midland, MI; Dan Landino, CAGA of Sterling Heights, MI; Judy Landino, CAI, CAGA of Sterling Heights, MI; and Kenny A. Lindsay, of Livonia, MI. The event was designed to be a promotional event for the MSAA and the Auction Industry at large. Funds were raised to help the MSAA's marketing and industry promotion plan for the upcoming year.

Yoder Named Reserve Champion of the Indiana Auctioneers Association - FORT WAYNE,Ind. - Willis Yoder was named Reserve Champion Auctioneer during a bid calling contest at the Indiana Auctioneers Association convention on Nov. 11.
Fourteen auctioneers participated in the competition, which was held in Fort Wayne.
From cattle industry to real estate, a forward thinker leads: NAA President Bill Sheridan, CAI, AARE, GPPA. “I believe the role of the president should be one of forward-thinking and implementation of current programs,” he says. “Real estate is going to be the common thread to just about all auctions,” Sheridan says. It’s starting to happen in our business. We don’t sign very many auctions that don’t have real estate.” “We still sell a lot of farm machinery auctions for big farmers,” he says. “But I also have seen an increase in the number of consignment sales we have.” The term “president” seems to follow Bill Sheridan wherever he goes. From his local 4-H club to the National Auctioneers Association, the Auctioneer from Mason, MI has devoted his life to leadership.
