Doug Heuker is a 1991 graduate of Calvin
College, earning a BS in accounting. After a few years as business manager for a large
company in Muskegon, he decided to pursue his childhood interest of auctioneering. When a
kid, he would attend many livestock auctions with his grandfather each week during the
summer and practice his "bid calling" late at night on the return trip home.
Doug graduated from Missouri Auction School in February, 1995 and joined the state and
national auction associations shortly thereafter. In January of 1996, he joined the team
of Miedema Auctioneering as auctioneer and auction manager.
Doug specializes in commercial and
industrial auctions as well as real estate and agricultural sales and especially enjoys
construction equipment auctions. He is an active member at Westend Christian Reformed
Church, having served as treasurer of their board as well as many other functions. He and
his wife Erin have been married for ten years and have two children, Melanie - 3 ½, and
Benjamin 2. They live in Marne, MI.
Next to auctioneering, Dougs next
passion is hunting. According to his co-workers, scheduling auctions can get to be a real
dilemma during the months of October December.
"I am honored and excited about the
opportunity to represent the auctioneers of Michigan. I have a renewed sense of
professionalism and will work hard to add to the integrity and respect of the auction
industry."
The MSAA Sent
Doug to the International Auctioneer Championships in Orlando, Florida in July 2002.
Doug was one of Michigan's 3 Contestants to make it to the finals!
Congratulations Doug!
