MSAA 2004 Bid Calling Champion

Michael H. Bliss

Mike Bliss of Mt. Pleasant, MI won the coveted title, Michigan Auctioneer Champion, Thursday, January 29, 2004. 25 Men and Women competed for the title, Michigan Auctioneer Champion 2004. Contestants are judged on their chant, or bid-calling, and the finalists are also judged on the interview portion of the contest. The Five Finalists were Mike Bliss of Mt. Pleasant, Scott Miedema of Byron Center, Richard J. Montgomery of Plymouth, Dan Samson of Escanaba and Dan Stone of Detroit.

Bliss received the title, a championship trophy, a gold championship ring and his entry fee paid into the International Auctioneer Championships in July in Madison, Wisconsin. The International Auctioneer Championships are held during the National Auctioneers Association Annual Conference and Show. Mike will also serve as industry spokesperson during his yearlong reign.

Mike Bliss is also a board member of the MSAA and has been an Auctioneer for 23 years. Upon his graduation of Mendenhall School of Auctioneering, Mike was awarded the coveted "Most Likely to Succeed" plaque by his 93 classmates. Now involved in primarily Contract Auctions and doing many of them with Yoder Bros. Auction Service of Clare, Mich. Mike prides himself on being very well versed in many areas of expertise connected with the auction business, i.e. guns, sporting goods, ATV’s, Farm Animals, furniture and shop equipment just to name a few.
